$57.00
I believe this beautiful point is a Gypsum Cave Stemmed, a description can be found on the internet at www.projectilepoints.net.

These points are described as medium in size, with a flattened to elliptical cross section. Blades range from straight to excurvate and may be serrated, shoulders are most commonly at an upward angle, but may be horizontal to barbed. The most notable characteristic for this point is the contracting stem with the convex base. Average size ranges from: length - 34 to 59 mm (average 42 mm), width - 19 to 27 mm (average 24 mm), thickness 4 to 8 mm. It is found throughout the southern Great Basin and the southern Colorado Plateau into the southwestern region and into northern Sonora and northern Baja California, Mexico.
Age / Periods:
Date: 4,000 - 2,800 B.P.
Cultural Period: Late Archaic

This point matches the physical characteristics described above, it is approx. 50mm in length, approx. 38 mm in width and approx. 5 mm thick. It appears that an edge of this point was broken off. It almost appears as if this point was never completed, one side is wonderfully seriated and the side with break is much thicker and not as finely formed as if the maker never finished it. Please carefully review photos for full perspective.

The beautiful mahogany obsidian that this point was fletched from is truly eye catching. The point was dug/collected by a family member in Utah. It is showcased in a floating display box, it can be easily removed from this box if desired.

As always, thank you for stopping by the shop and for your interest in this piece.
