Black Powder Horn, Moroccan, made of wood and forged metal Circa 1800's

$295.00
Collectors of Antique Black Powder Horns.
This very interesting piece is a antique Moroccan black powder "horn" that is formed from wood. The wooden horn has incised lines along the outside of the curve, the body tapers to a metal "jacketed" tip. The metal is beautifully formed and etched. There are two metal bands encircling the horn, the one at the end cap has two sets of narrow parallel lines inscribing the edges. The band at the center has three evenly spaced sets of narrow parallel lines inscribed around it and cut outs in the metal. It has two fittings for a chain or leather strap for carrying. The metal has an aged patina and I have not attempted to clean it, I am unsure exactly what kind of metal this is. Please refer to photos for better perspective.
The piece measures approx 12 inches long, not factoring in the curvature, and approx 3 inches in diameter at the end cap and tip of the spout is approx 1/2 inch in diameter.

As always, thank you for stopping by the shop and for your interest in this piece. Please do not hesitate contact us with any questions you might have.

The stand used for photos is not included in the purchase of this piece.
