$195.00
Collectors of Classic Antique Butter Prints take a look at this small craft shop made print. Originating in Pennsylvania, the face of this print features a carved pineapple design. This print originally was part of the stock of a noted antique dealer John H Rogers. After many years in business, John H Rogers is retiring and liquidating their stock, I purchsed this in a liquidation auction. The original tag remains.
Lathe turned from a single piece of wood; this print was created sometime between 1830-1870. The center design is framed by an incised band and leaflet banding. The central design features a stylized pineapple with a central duplicate carved pattern and three leaf crown. There are two layers of leaves with variegation and five smaller leaves on either side of the pineapple. This print has been extensively used with noted dry-in cracking to print. The print stands approx. 2 3/4 inches tall, the face of the print is approx. 4 1/2 inches in diameter. Please carefully review photos for full perspective.
Craft Shop prints are described in detail starting on pg. 56 in "Butter Prints & Molds" by Kindig.
