$125.00
Lovers of Historical Memorabilia of the American West. take a look at this wonderful cabinet card.

Based on the clothing worn by the subjects in this photo and location where it originated, this is likely a young married couple in the time period between 1880 and 1890. The seated gentleman is not in uniform, though he is holding what appears to be the hat of a Calvary officer of that time period. During the late 1800's, officers were required to buy their own uniforms which became their personal property. After completion of military service, these uniforms remained with them. He is dressed in a very stylish suit for the time, the fact that he is holding a military uniform hat, was likely a personal statement, testimony to his past military service. The United States Army assigned the 7th Infantry to garrison Ft. Snelling, Indianapolis in 1878. By the 1880's units of the 7th calvary were also stationed at the fort. It was from this fort that units were dispatched into the Dakotas during the Indian Wars. All of this is strongly suggestive that the young man pictured was a retired 7th calvary officer. The beautiful woman, likely his wife, is wearing a dress with a Bussel, a style considered very fashionable in the 1880-1890 time period.

The card is in good condition. It measures approx. 4 1/4 inches wide by approx. 6 1/2 inches tall. It is mounted on appropriate card type for cabinet cards of the late 1800 time period. Please carefully review photos for full perspective.
