Kachina, "Sun Dancer" signed by recognized Kachina artist "Largo"

$145.00
Identified on the base as "Sun", this very nice Kachina was hand carved from Cotton Wood, painted, decorated and signed by the artist, Largo. In pueblo spiritual culture Sun dancers represent "warmth, shelter for the old, bright future, and playfulness for the young". Values I personally cherish. Many examples of Native American Artwork produced by this artist can be found on the internet.

This dancer stands approx. 10 1/2 inches tall; the base is not round; it is approx. 3 inches wide and 4 inches long. The widest span of this dancer is approx. 6 1/2 inches. The body is painted in vibrant colors of turquoise, red, white, yellow and black. Accents are created using eagle feathers, smooth leather and soft split leather. (Black yarn has been tied around the legs as added accent. I do not believe this to be original but leave it to whomever chooses this piece to decide if they wish to keep it or not.) The dancer is in good condition. There is some evidence of paint wear over time. The use of actual eagle feathers makes this a very fragile piece. Please refer to photos for full perspective.

As always, thank you for stopping by the shop and for your interest in this beautiful piece. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you might have.

PLEASE NOTE: These kachina dancers are very fragile, because of this we cannot guarantee there will not be some small loss to feathers or other very fragile accents. We do our best to pack them well, but even with the best packing, small pieces can break. If you are purchasing kachina dancers, please keep this in mind.
