Knife with Hand Fletched Obsidian Blade and Carved, Wolf Head Motif, Antler Handle
$150.00
Lovers/Collectors of unique handmade knives, take a look at this beautiful piece.
The knife measures approx. 9 1/2 inches long, from the tip of the wolf's nose to the tip of the obsidian blade. The widest point of the blade is approx. 1 5/8 inches, the blade itself extends approx. 4 1/2 inches from the antler handle. The handle is carved from what looks to me like antler. The end of the handle has a carved effigy of a wolf head with ears laid back and mouth wide open. The detail in the carving is exceptional. The blade was hand knapped from a piece of obsidian using what appear to be pressure and possibly percussion knapping techniques. The blade style is similar to a skinning knife and the obsidian edge is sharp. Please refer to photos for full perspective.
I cannot recommend use of this knife. I do not believe the obsidian would hold up to the pressure of use. This beautiful knife should be considered as a display piece only, it is a beautiful one-of-a-kind piece that would make a great gift.
