Lunch Box style Tobacco Tin, circa 1910, Pedro Cut Plug Tobacco,
$95.00
Collectors of Vintage/Antique Tobacco Tins, take a look at this lovely, lunch box style tin.
Marketing "Pedro Cut Plug Smoking Tobacco", this lunch box pail style tin has a wonderful, aged patina, yet retains full graphics. The color alone of this tin sets it apart. It retains a revenue stamp on one side with the date 1910. The hinged lid and handle are secure and function well. The lid closes snuggly and is firmly held in place with the original clip. On the lower right of the front is a stamp with tobacco regulations and place of manufacture; "Factory No. 2 - District of Maryland". On the lower right of the opposite side is a stamp, "WM S. Kimball & Co. The American Tobacco Co. successor". The tin is decorated with beautiful period lithography. There are some scratches and small dents, but for its age it is in very nice condition.
The tin stands approx. 4 inches tall from the base to the top with the lid closed (not including the handle), it is approx. 7 5/8 inches long and 5 1/4 inches wide.
This Tin is described in the book by Fred Dodge, "Antique Tins" 1999 prices on page 85. The average price listed is $100 - $150. This tin is very clean on the inside, but the graphics outside are not as clear and crisp as those shown in this book. I have priced this piece accordingly. Please refer to photos for full perspective.
