Collectors of old American Southwest souvenirs, take a look at this darling little Skookum Mail Tag doll.

Circa the 1940-50's these little pieces would have been found in Trading Posts, Parks and other points of interest across the American Southwest. They were marketed as "mailers", souvenirs that could be sent home to family and friends as a means of staying in touch and promoting the adventure of "road trips" through the American West.

This little doll has the classic composition head and face painted with the eyes looking left. Stuffed body under a sewn on robe and black hair with a blue plastic headband, with a small pink feather on the back of the head. The doll is affixed to a cradle board made of thick cardboard, there is a hole punched through the top of the cradle board where the original mail tag would have attached. The doll is approx. 3 3/4 inches long not factoring in the feather at the back of the head, 1 3/4 inches wide and 7/8 inches deep.
