Circa 1860 - 1880, this is a lovely Staffordshire hen on nest tureen with chicks peeping out from under her wings. Featuring finely detailed plumage, bright enamel colors with raised white speckles and 'jeweled' enameling to her back. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. Evidence of very minimal wear to paint, appropriate for age and use. This piece remains in very good condition and could easily be used as a center piece for table service or simply a eye catching display piecee. It was manufactured in England.

It is approx. 9 1/8inches long and approx. 7 1/4 inches wide. It stands approx. 8 3/4 inches from the base to the peak of the hen's tail. The base of the basket weave "nest" is approx. 6 inches long and 4 1/2 inches wide. Please refer to photos for full perspective.
