Pie Crimper or Jagger, Forged Brass with Turned Oak Handle, Circa Early 1900's

$40.00
This beautiful old kitchen tool is a hand forged pie crimper/ pastry jagger. Based on style and construction, I date this piece to early 1900's to 1920 time period.

The fork and wheel are both hand forged. The fork retains the forge marks and scratches from files used to smooth the piece. There is a wobble in the wheel as it is not longer tight within the forks. So use in its current condition is questionable. The turned wooden handle appears to be oak and the wood is unfinished, it has a warm patina built up over time with use. Please refer to photo for full perspective.

The crimper is approx. 7 inches long. The brass neck, fork and wheel extend approx. 2 7/8 inches from the handle. The wheel itself is approx. 1 1/4 inches in diameter. This would be lovely decorative piece in a Farmhouse or Country themed kitchen.
