Revolutionary War Era Black Powder Horn, Original Hardware and End Cap
$75.00
Own a piece of American history, dating from the time of the American Revolution, this horn has stories of everyday Colonial American life locked inside I wish that it could tell. The carved body suggests this horn was made by its original owner, the end cap and forged iron staple are original to the piece.
For its age and use, the horn is in good condition, the body has the darkened, almost green patina that comes with age. There are scratches, wear and some chips where the horn joins the endcap, appropriate for age. The flat wooden endcap has dried and shrunk with time and no longer seals. I see no insect damage. This horn would be a great addition to any collection. I have attempted to show all of the above in the photos, please refer to those photos for full perspective.
The horn is approx. 9 1/4 inches long, not including the curvature of the horn. The endcap is approx. 2 1/4 inches in diameter. The outer diameter of the spout is approx. 1/2 inch, the internal diameter is approx. 3/8 inch.
As always, thank you for stopping by the shop and for your interest in this piece. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any question you may have.
