Seltzer Bottle, Hekenkaemper Bros. Atchison Kansas, circa 1900, in as found condition

$180.00
Antique Bottle lovers, take a look at this interesting Seltzer Bottle. Manufactured in Kansas around 1900, the bottle is thick glass with a pedestal base, it has a metal head with spout and thumb lever. Inside the bottle a glass tube extends from the head to just above the bottom. The company logo is stenciled/etched on the side of the glass bottle, and a different company name is stamped on the metal head. There are bubbles in the glass from the manufacturing process, the inside of the bottle retains residue from original contents and the metal head is heavily oxidized/corroded. The thumb lever still functions. I cannot get the metal head off the bottle and have no way of knowing if it could be restored. I have chosen to leave it in "as found" condition.
The etched medallion on the front of the bottle identifies it as made by Hekenkaemper Bros. of Atchinson Kansas. The bottle stands approx. 11 1/2 inches tall from the base to the top of the metal head. It is approx. 4 inches across at the shoulder and the base is approx. 3 1/2 inches in diameter. It is a heavy bottle, weighing approx. 3 lbs. 5 oz. It would be a wonderful addition to any collection or center piece in a bar area.

At the turn of the 19th century, Hekelnkaemper Brothers was the oldest soda manufacturer in Kansas. Seltzer bottles with a pedestal base generally date from the early 1900's.
