Skookum Doll, Circa 1940's, Good Condition
$55.00
Collectors of Antique/Vintage Skookum Dolls, take a look at this nice doll.
This doll likely dates from the 1940's. I base that determination on the plastic head with more refined features, and painted, glued on boots. During the 1940's painted plastic replaced composite for the heads in these dolls and glued on and painted paper was used to form the boots. In the 1950's plastic boots were used. The doll is in good condition for its age. The blankets have minimal soiling and no loss to the fabric, raw edges of the fabric were blanket stitched, over time a minimal amount of raveling has occurred. All of this appropriate for the age of this doll. She seems to be looking down and from what I can tell, this is way this doll was made, the head is not loose. Please refer to photos for full perspective.
She stands on her own, however, I always recommend a stand to display these dolls for any length of time. She stands approx. 9 inches tall, is approx. 3 1/4 inches wide at the widest point of her body and approx. 2 inches deep at the same spot.
As always, thank you for stopping by the shop and for your interest in this piece. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you might have.
