Tintype, Group of Men, 3 holding guns, Laredo Texas

$250.00
Lovers of the old west and antique photography, take a look at this interesting little tintype.

I purchased this from an estate sale in Texas. The provenance the family suggested was that this was a photo of Western Agents or possibly a Posse. I shared the tintype with a good friend who has a very broad base of knowledge in these pieces from the mid to late 1800's. His assessment is that from the clothing it appears this might be a photo of a Gentlemans Shooting Club. The truth of who these gentlemen are and what the purpose of the photo was is lost to time. What remains is a lovely little window back in time, detailing wonderful examples of period dress, hairstyles and hat choices. Not everyone in the American West wore boots and spurs.

The tintype in its case is 3 3/4 inches by 3 1/4 inches. The tintype by itself is 3 1/8 inches by 2 1/2 inches. The case is lovely embossed leather with two hinge rings on the side indicating that at one time there was a cover piece. The photo is frame by raised/stamped gold leaf and the glass is intact. The leather case is in good condition, there is a small seperation at the lower left corner and the side where the clasp would have been to hold the top shut has a missing strip. Please see photos' for full perspective.
