Victorian Kerosene Lamp, U S Glass Co., Amber Colored, Peacock Feather Pattern

$195.00
Lovers of beautiful Victorian period lighting, take a look at this very nice kerosene/oil lamp. This lovely lamp would be a perfect accent piece in any room, or eye-catching addition to a collection of period lighting.

Featuring a brilliant, reflective amber glass, this lamp was manufactured by the U. S. Glass company between 1895 and 1907. The pattern is identified as Peacock Feather, a more elaborate variation of a pattern introduced prior to 1860, known as the Georgia pattern. Documentation of this lamp can be found on page 282 of the book, "Oil Lamps, The Kerosene Era in North America" by Catherine Thuro. The lamp stands approx. 20 1/5 inches tall, from the base to the lip of the chimney. The brass burner is stamped "Eagle" and I believe is original to the lamp, it is in need of a good cleaning. In its current tarnished condition, it remains functional. The plain top chimney is likely recent. The chimney stands approx. 10 inches tall. The amber lamp stands approx. 10 1/4 inches from the base to the top of the brass collar. The burner is about 2 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. The oil well in the amber lamp is approx. 4 3/4 across and the base is approx. 5 5/8 inches in diameter. Please refer to photos for full perspective.
