Victorian Kerosene/Oil Lamp, Emerald Green, Peanut Pattern, Footed Finger Lamp Circa 1893
$125.00
Lovers of beautiful Victorian period lighting, take a look at this stunning kerosene lamp. This would be a perfect accent piece in any room, or eye-catching addition to a collection of period lighting.
The body of the lamp is a deep emerald green, with a raised pattern identified as "Peanut Pattern". As I run my fingers around the inside lip of the base, there are a couple of rough areas I suspect may be small flakes. These are not visible but can be felt, there are no other chips cracks or repairs to this beautiful piece. The brass burner and collar are period appropriate and likely, original. The thumb wheel is stamped with what I believe says (it is a bit difficult to make out) "Pat APL 30 83 M. B. Co. N.Y.". The burner does not have a wick, but easily unscrews from the collar and a wick could be inserted if desired. The globe/chimney has a lovely, scalloped lip which perfectly accents this Victorian piece. For its age, this lamp is in very good condition. If filled with lamp oil and a wick was added, this lamp could be used.
The lamp stands approximately 14 3/4 inches tall. The glass body is approx. 5 1/4 inches tall from the base to the collar. The burner and collar are approx. 2 1/2 inches tall. At the widest point of the glass body the lamp is approx. 4 inches across. The base is approx. 4 1/4 inches in diameter. The brass burner is approx. 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Please refer to photos for full perspective.
