Westmoreland Milk Glass, Hen on Nest, circa 1940-1950's

$35.00
This lovely piece would make a beautiful addition to any hen on nest collection. The inside of the hen is stamped with the Westmoreland Glass Company insignia. Though the hen top piece fits perfectly into the base, I am not 100% sure the base is original or whether it is a Westmoreland product. The inside of the base has a textured surface, and it does not sit as flat as I would like it to. The piece remains a lovely piece and could be used as a candy dish on an entry room table or coffee table, a condiment dish or an eye-catching display piece to accent farmhouse or country décor.

The base measures approx. 5 1/2 inches long by 4 1/4 inches wide at the lip, the base is approx. 3 3/4 inches long by 2 1/2 inches wide. The top is approx. 5 inches in long by 3 3/4 inches wide. There are no visible chips, cracks or repairs to the top or base. This piece was found in a barn at an estate auction, it was literally covered in decades of dirt and grime. I used a soft toothbrush and mild soap and water to clean it. The red paint on the hen's comb and eyes remains clean and crisp. The white of the milk glass retains a warm and reflective glow. Please carefully review all photos for full perspective.
